“Art is chaos taking shape.” -Pablo Picasso
Painting with scissors. Artworks created by 6, 8 and 10 years old.
Cutting, along with coloring, helps develop children’s ability of focus and attention. Observing children’s working process of cutting up, cutting out, and sticking down helps to see the dynamics of their inner world as well.
Cutting with scissors gives young children independent movements of each finger. As the cutting activity works on the separation of two sides of the hand and strengthens hand muscles. Bilateral coordination is also addressed when they have attention.
